About Yoast WooCommerce SEO Premium 14.6

Yoast WooCommerce SEO is an add-on for Yoast SEO that teaches it how a WooCommerce shop is built. On its own, Yoast SEO treats products much like ordinary posts. The add-on understands prices, stock, product categories and brands, and uses them in the signals that search engines and social networks read.

In practice it does three jobs. It extends the product structured data Google uses for rich results, with brand and global identifiers such as GTIN, ISBN and MPN. It tidies sitemaps and breadcrumbs so filter pages and other shop URLs that shouldn't rank stay out of the way of real product and category pages. And it reorganises the product editor so WooCommerce's product data sits above the Yoast box.

It is not a standalone SEO plugin. You need WooCommerce and Yoast SEO active (the free version of Yoast SEO is enough), and the add-on expects a Yoast SEO version from the same period. If Yoast SEO is older than the add-on requires, the add-on shows a notice instead of running.

Requirements

  • WooCommerce
  • Yoast SEO (the free plugin is enough)

Key features

Richer product schema
Adds brand, identifiers and offer details to the Product structured data, so Google has what it needs for product rich results.
Product identifiers
Gives each product fields for GTIN, UPC, EAN, ISBN and MPN codes, which feed straight into the structured data.
Brand setting
Lets you choose which taxonomy or attribute holds your brands, so the right brand appears in each product's schema.
Cleaner XML sitemaps
Leaves out shop URLs that shouldn't be indexed, such as filtered views, so the sitemap lists the pages you want to rank.
Product breadcrumbs
Replaces WooCommerce's breadcrumbs with Yoast's and follows the primary product category you pick for each product.
Better social sharing
Adds product price and availability to the data Pinterest and Facebook read, so shared products show more than a title and image.
Tidier product editor
Moves the Yoast SEO box below WooCommerce's product data, so you can fill in product details and SEO separately without scrolling back and forth.

Is it right for you?

A good fit for

  • WooCommerce stores that already use Yoast SEO and want product-specific SEO on top
  • Shops selling physical products with barcodes, where GTIN or EAN codes help Google match products
  • Stores with many filters and attribute pages that clutter the sitemap
  • Brands that want shared products on Pinterest and Facebook to carry price and stock details

Look elsewhere if

  • Stores that use Rank Math or All in One SEO as their main SEO plugin, because this add-on requires Yoast SEO
  • Shops that don't run on WooCommerce, such as Easy Digital Downloads or hosted platforms
  • Small catalogues that only need titles and meta descriptions, which free Yoast SEO already handles

How to install Yoast WooCommerce SEO Premium 14.6

  1. 1

    Download the file

Open My Account → Downloads and download the product. If the archive contains several zips (documentation, child theme, licensing files), you need the one named after the product.

  2. 2

    Upload it to WordPress

In your dashboard go to Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin and choose the zip.

  3. 3

    Install and activate

Click Install Now, then Activate. If an older or free copy is already installed, WordPress offers to replace it with the uploaded version.

Notes for this product

  • Install and activate Yoast SEO before this add-on; the add-on does nothing without it.
  • If you also run Yoast SEO Premium, keep both on versions from the same period so they stay compatible.

Setup: using Yoast WooCommerce SEO Premium 14.6

  1. Confirm the dependencies. Check that WooCommerce and Yoast SEO are active and that no add-on notice is showing at the top of the dashboard.
  2. Open the WooCommerce SEO settings. In the Yoast SEO menu, open the WooCommerce SEO page where the add-on's options live.
  3. Choose your brand taxonomy. Select the taxonomy or product attribute that holds your brand names, so it is used in product schema.
  4. Fill in product identifiers. Edit your best-selling products first and add their GTIN, EAN, ISBN or MPN codes in the product editor.
  5. Set primary categories and breadcrumbs. Pick a primary category on products listed in several categories, turn on Yoast breadcrumbs, and check that your theme displays them.
  6. Test a product page. Run a product URL through Google's Rich Results Test and confirm it shows one Product item with brand, offer and identifier details.

Common problems and fixes

The WooCommerce SEO settings don't appear
Why it happens
Yoast SEO or WooCommerce isn't active, so the add-on has nothing to attach to.
How to fix it
Activate both plugins, then reload the dashboard; the WooCommerce SEO page appears in the Yoast SEO menu.
A notice says Yoast SEO must be updated, and the add-on's features are missing
Why it happens
The installed Yoast SEO is older than this add-on requires, so Yoast keeps the add-on switched off.
How to fix it
Update Yoast SEO to a version the add-on supports. If updating Yoast SEO isn't an option, use Request an update from your account for a matching add-on file.
Google's Rich Results Test shows two Product items on one page
Why it happens
Another plugin or the theme outputs its own product schema alongside Yoast's.
How to fix it
Turn off product schema in the other plugin or theme so Yoast's structured data is the only Product markup on the page.
The breadcrumbs on product pages don't change
Why it happens
Yoast breadcrumbs are switched off, or the theme prints WooCommerce's breadcrumb directly in its template.
How to fix it
Enable breadcrumbs in Yoast SEO's settings, then check the theme's options or template for a setting that uses Yoast breadcrumbs.
“The link you followed has expired.” when uploading
Why it happens
The zip is larger than your server's PHP upload limit (upload_max_filesize / post_max_size).
How to fix it
Raise the upload limit in your hosting control panel, or unzip the file and upload the folder to wp-content/plugins with your host's file manager or SFTP.
“The package could not be installed. No valid plugins were found.”
Why it happens
The uploaded zip is a bundle (or a theme), not the plugin itself.
How to fix it
Unzip the download once and upload the inner zip named after the plugin.
“Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.”
Why it happens
Usually a PHP version older than the plugin needs, or a second copy of the same plugin (for example the free version) still active.
How to fix it
Check your PHP version under Tools → Site Health → Info, deactivate any other copy of the plugin, and enable WP_DEBUG_LOG to see the exact error.
Licence or “updates unavailable” notices
Why it happens
The developer's licence key isn't included. Features that call the developer's servers (template libraries, cloud APIs, automatic updates) need it.
How to fix it
Everything that runs locally works without it. For a newer file, use Request an update from your account.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need Yoast SEO Premium to use this?

No. Yoast WooCommerce SEO works with the free Yoast SEO plugin. Premium adds its own features, such as redirects and internal linking suggestions, but isn't required.

Does it work without WooCommerce?

No. It extends WooCommerce products, categories and shop pages, so it has nothing to do on a site without WooCommerce.

Where do I enter GTIN or EAN codes?

In the product editor, in the identifier fields the add-on adds to each product. Those codes are then included in the product's structured data.

Will it replace my theme's breadcrumbs?

It replaces WooCommerce's breadcrumbs with Yoast's when Yoast breadcrumbs are enabled. If your theme prints its own breadcrumb code, you may need to switch a theme option as well.

Can I use it alongside Rank Math or All in One SEO?

No. It depends on Yoast SEO, and running two SEO plugins at once leads to duplicate meta tags and schema. Pick one SEO plugin for the store.
