About Paid Memberships Pro – Addon Packages .7.9

Paid Memberships Pro Addon Packages is an add-on for Paid Memberships Pro, the membership plugin. Its job is to let members buy access to specific pieces of content as an extra, outside their membership level, so you can sell a single guide or course as an add-on instead of building a whole new level for it.

That suits sites with a main membership plus occasional premium items: a members-only site that also sells individual reports, or a course library where some courses cost extra. The add-on works inside Paid Memberships Pro's own checkout, so payments and member records stay in one system.

It does nothing without Paid Memberships Pro installed and active. The file is from November 2018, so test it with your current Paid Memberships Pro version on a staging site, including a full checkout, before offering a package to real members.

Requirements

  • Paid Memberships Pro, installed and active

Key features

Sell access as add-on packages
Let members buy access to specific content on top of, or outside, their membership level.
Works inside Paid Memberships Pro
Uses PMPro's own checkout, so payments and member records stay in one system.
Extra revenue from existing members
Offer premium items to people who already trust your site.
No new membership level needed
Sell a single item without building a separate level for it.
Add-on in the PMPro family
Sits alongside PMPro's other add-ons, which cover many other membership needs.

Is it right for you?

A good fit for

  • Membership sites that also sell individual premium items
  • Course and resource libraries with some paid extras
  • Sites already running Paid Memberships Pro

Look elsewhere if

  • Sites that don't use Paid Memberships Pro, since this is an add-on
  • Sites that want to sell physical products, where a shop plugin fits better

How to install Paid Memberships Pro – Addon Packages .7.9

  1. 1

    Download the file

Open My Account → Downloads and download the product. If the archive contains several zips (documentation, child theme, licensing files), you need the one named after the product.

  2. 2

    Upload it to WordPress

In your dashboard go to Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin and choose the zip.

  3. 3

    Install and activate

Click Install Now, then Activate. If an older or free copy is already installed, WordPress offers to replace it with the uploaded version.

Notes for this product

  • Install and activate Paid Memberships Pro first. This add-on does nothing without it.

Setup: using Paid Memberships Pro – Addon Packages .7.9

  1. Install Paid Memberships Pro. Make sure PMPro is installed, active and has its payment gateway set up.
  2. Activate the add-on. Upload and activate it like any plugin.
  3. Create a package. Open the add-on's area in the PMPro menu and define a package, choosing the content it unlocks and its price.
  4. Link to the checkout. Add a link or button on the content's page that sends members to buy the package.
  5. Test a purchase. Buy the package with a test member and confirm the content opens afterwards.

Common problems and fixes

A member paid but still can't open the content
Why it happens
The order hasn't completed, or the content isn't linked to the package.
How to fix it
Check the order's status in PMPro, then check that the package lists the content it should unlock.
The package option doesn't appear
Why it happens
Paid Memberships Pro isn't active, or the versions are too far apart.
How to fix it
Activate PMPro, update both to versions from the same period, and look under the PMPro menu.
A page cache shows members the locked version
Why it happens
Cached pages are served to logged-in members.
How to fix it
Exclude protected pages and logged-in users from page caching.
“The link you followed has expired.” when uploading
Why it happens
The zip is larger than your server's PHP upload limit (upload_max_filesize / post_max_size).
How to fix it
Raise the upload limit in your hosting control panel, or unzip the file and upload the folder to wp-content/plugins with your host's file manager or SFTP.
“The package could not be installed. No valid plugins were found.”
Why it happens
The uploaded zip is a bundle (or a theme), not the plugin itself.
How to fix it
Unzip the download once and upload the inner zip named after the plugin.
“Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.”
Why it happens
Usually a PHP version older than the plugin needs, or a second copy of the same plugin (for example the free version) still active.
How to fix it
Check your PHP version under Tools → Site Health → Info, deactivate any other copy of the plugin, and enable WP_DEBUG_LOG to see the exact error.
Licence or “updates unavailable” notices
Why it happens
The developer's licence key isn't included. Features that call the developer's servers (template libraries, cloud APIs, automatic updates) need it.
How to fix it
Everything that runs locally works without it. For a newer file, use Request an update from your account.
