About LearnDash LMS WooCommerce Integration Addon 1.9.7
LearnDash LMS WooCommerce Integration is an add-on that connects the LearnDash learning management plugin to WooCommerce checkout. You sell courses and groups as WooCommerce products, and when the order is complete, the student is enrolled automatically.
WooCommerce supplies everything around the sale: the product pages, cart, payment gateways, coupons and tax. LearnDash handles the learning side. The add-on is the link between the two, so you don't enrol students by hand after each purchase.
It does nothing on its own. You need both LearnDash LMS and WooCommerce installed and active, and the add-on is best suited to shops that already use WooCommerce for other products, or that want WooCommerce's payment options for courses.
Requirements
- LearnDash LMS
- WooCommerce
Key features
- Courses as WooCommerce products
- Link a LearnDash course to a WooCommerce product, so buying the product gives access to the course.
- Groups as products
- Sell LearnDash groups the same way, for cohorts or company training.
- Automatic enrolment
- Students are enrolled when the order reaches the status that grants access, usually Completed.
- WooCommerce checkout
- Use WooCommerce's payment gateways, coupons and tax settings for course sales.
- Access follows the order
- Access can be taken away when an order is refunded or cancelled, depending on your settings.
Is it right for you?
A good fit for
- Course sellers who already run a WooCommerce shop
- Sites that want WooCommerce payment gateways, coupons and tax rules for courses
- Training companies selling LearnDash groups to teams
Look elsewhere if
- Sites that are happy with LearnDash's own payment options, which don't need WooCommerce
- Sites that don't use LearnDash
How to install LearnDash LMS WooCommerce Integration Addon 1.9.7
- 1
Download the file
Open My Account → Downloads and download the product. If the archive contains several zips (documentation, child theme, licensing files), you need the one named after the product.
- 2
Upload it to WordPress
In your dashboard go to Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin and choose the zip.
- 3
Install and activate
Click Install Now, then Activate. If an older or free copy is already installed, WordPress offers to replace it with the uploaded version.
Notes for this product
- Install and activate LearnDash LMS and WooCommerce first. This add-on has nothing to connect without both.
Setup: using LearnDash LMS WooCommerce Integration Addon 1.9.7
- Install and activate both plugins. Make sure LearnDash LMS and WooCommerce are active before adding the integration.
- Create the course in LearnDash. Build the course, lessons and quizzes as you normally would.
- Create a WooCommerce product. Add a product for the course, set its price, and tick the Virtual option.
- Link the course to the product. In the product editor, choose the LearnDash course or group the product gives access to.
- Point the course's button at the product. In the course settings, use the Closed access mode and send the course button to the product page, so buyers go to WooCommerce.
- Test a purchase. Buy the product with a test account and check that the student is enrolled and can open the course.
Common problems and fixes
A student paid but isn't enrolled
- Why it happens
- The order hasn't reached the status that grants access, usually Completed, because WooCommerce leaves orders for physical products in Processing.
- How to fix it
- Tick Virtual on the product so paid orders complete automatically, or mark the order Completed by hand.
The course still shows its own button instead of leading to the WooCommerce product
- Why it happens
- The course's access mode is still set to a LearnDash payment option.
- How to fix it
- Set the course to the Closed access mode and point its button URL at the WooCommerce product page.
“The link you followed has expired.” when uploading
- Why it happens
- The zip is larger than your server's PHP upload limit (upload_max_filesize / post_max_size).
- How to fix it
- Raise the upload limit in your hosting control panel, or unzip the file and upload the folder to wp-content/plugins with your host's file manager or SFTP.
“The package could not be installed. No valid plugins were found.”
- Why it happens
- The uploaded zip is a bundle (or a theme), not the plugin itself.
- How to fix it
- Unzip the download once and upload the inner zip named after the plugin.
“Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.”
- Why it happens
- Usually a PHP version older than the plugin needs, or a second copy of the same plugin (for example the free version) still active.
- How to fix it
- Check your PHP version under Tools → Site Health → Info, deactivate any other copy of the plugin, and enable WP_DEBUG_LOG to see the exact error.
Licence or “updates unavailable” notices
- Why it happens
- The developer's licence key isn't included. Features that call the developer's servers (template libraries, cloud APIs, automatic updates) need it.
- How to fix it
- Everything that runs locally works without it. For a newer file, use Request an update from your account.
Alternatives to LearnDash LMS WooCommerce Integration Addon 1.9.7
| Product | Choose it if | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Sensei LMS WordPress Plugin 1.9.17 | you want an LMS that sells courses through WooCommerce without an integration add-on. | $5.49 |
| Tutor LMS Pro 2.4.0 | you'd rather use an LMS plugin whose Pro version handles course sales itself, with WooCommerce among the options. | $4.25 |
Frequently asked questions
Do I need LearnDash and WooCommerce as well?
Yes. The add-on connects the two, so both must be installed and active.
Can I sell groups as well as courses?
Yes. A group can be linked to a product, so buying it enrols the buyer in that group.
How is this different from LearnDash's own payment options?
LearnDash can take payments itself. This add-on is for stores that want WooCommerce to handle the sale, with its gateways, coupons and tax settings.
When does the student get access?
When the WooCommerce order reaches the status that triggers enrolment, normally Completed. Marking the product Virtual makes paid orders complete on their own.
What happens to access if an order is refunded?
It can be removed, depending on your settings. Check the add-on's options and test a refund on a staging copy.
