About WPForms Form Abandonment Addon 1.9.0
The WPForms Form Abandonment addon captures what visitors typed into a WPForms form even when they never press submit. You can then follow up with people who showed interest but dropped out, or see which forms lose people.
It is an addon, so WPForms must be installed first. The listing doesn't describe settings, but form abandonment is normally switched on per form in the form's settings. The file on record dates from September 2022. Test it on a staging site with your current WPForms and WordPress versions.
Requirements
- WPForms
Key features
- Partial entry capture
- Saves the answers a visitor entered before leaving a form.
- WPForms integration
- Works inside the WPForms form builder and entries screen.
- Per-form control
- Abandonment capture is normally enabled on the forms where you want it.
- Lead follow-up
- Lets you contact people who started a form but did not finish it.
Is it right for you?
A good fit for
- Sites with long quote, booking or registration forms where visitors often drop out
- Marketers who want to follow up on unfinished enquiries
Look elsewhere if
- Sites that don't use WPForms
- Sites that can't collect unsent form data under their privacy rules
How to install WPForms Form Abandonment Addon 1.9.0
- 1
Download the file
Open My Account → Downloads and download the product. If the archive contains several zips (documentation, child theme, licensing files), you need the one named after the product.
- 2
Upload it to WordPress
In your dashboard go to Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin and choose the zip.
- 3
Install and activate
Click Install Now, then Activate. If an older or free copy is already installed, WordPress offers to replace it with the uploaded version.
Notes for this product
- Install and activate WPForms first. Update your privacy policy and consent wording, because abandoned entries hold personal data that was never submitted.
Setup: using WPForms Form Abandonment Addon 1.9.0
- Confirm WPForms works. Make sure your forms submit and appear in the entries list.
- Activate the addon. Activate it, then open a form in the builder.
- Enable abandonment on the form. Turn on form abandonment in the form's settings.
- Test it. Fill in part of the form, leave the page, then look for the partial entry.
Common problems and fixes
No abandoned entries are recorded
- Why it happens
- Abandonment is off for that form, the visitor entered nothing, or a cache or script blocker stops the tracking request.
- How to fix it
- Enable it in the form settings, test with typed values, and exclude the page from caching.
“The link you followed has expired.” when uploading
- Why it happens
- The zip is larger than your server's PHP upload limit (upload_max_filesize / post_max_size).
- How to fix it
- Raise the upload limit in your hosting control panel, or unzip the file and upload the folder to wp-content/plugins with your host's file manager or SFTP.
“The package could not be installed. No valid plugins were found.”
- Why it happens
- The uploaded zip is a bundle (or a theme), not the plugin itself.
- How to fix it
- Unzip the download once and upload the inner zip named after the plugin.
“Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.”
- Why it happens
- Usually a PHP version older than the plugin needs, or a second copy of the same plugin (for example the free version) still active.
- How to fix it
- Check your PHP version under Tools → Site Health → Info, deactivate any other copy of the plugin, and enable WP_DEBUG_LOG to see the exact error.
Licence or “updates unavailable” notices
- Why it happens
- The developer's licence key isn't included. Features that call the developer's servers (template libraries, cloud APIs, automatic updates) need it.
- How to fix it
- Everything that runs locally works without it. For a newer file, use Request an update from your account.
