About WpDiscuz – Media Uploader 7.0.10

wpDiscuz Media Uploader is an add-on for wpDiscuz, the comments plugin. It extends the comment form so visitors can attach media files to what they write, instead of posting text only. It does nothing without wpDiscuz.

The listing gives only a name and a file of about 203 KB dated November 2021. It doesn't list file types, size limits or settings, so read the documentation in the package. Test it against your current WordPress and wpDiscuz versions on a staging copy, because add-ons must match the core plugin.

Requirements

  • wpDiscuz comments plugin

Key features

wpDiscuz add-on
Extends the wpDiscuz comment form rather than replacing it.
Media in comments
Lets commenters attach media to their posts, as the name states.
Small package
The file is about 203 KB, so it adds little to your plugin set.
Settings in the documentation
The listing doesn't state file types or limits; check the package.

Is it right for you?

A good fit for

  • Sites already running wpDiscuz that want richer, media-friendly comments
  • Communities and support sites where users want to show screenshots or images

Look elsewhere if

  • Sites that use the default WordPress comments or another comment plugin
  • Sites with strict moderation resources, since uploads add content to review

How to install WpDiscuz – Media Uploader 7.0.10

  1. 1

    Download the file

Open My Account → Downloads and download the product. If the archive contains several zips (documentation, child theme, licensing files), you need the one named after the product.

  2. 2

    Upload it to WordPress

In your dashboard go to Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin and choose the zip.

  3. 3

    Install and activate

Click Install Now, then Activate. If an older or free copy is already installed, WordPress offers to replace it with the uploaded version.

Notes for this product

  • Install and activate wpDiscuz first, then this add-on. Keep both on matching versions.

Setup: using WpDiscuz – Media Uploader 7.0.10

  1. Install wpDiscuz. Make sure wpDiscuz is active and comments work normally.

  3. Set upload rules. Choose what visitors may upload and who can upload, if the settings offer it.
  4. Test as a visitor. Post a comment with an attachment while logged out and logged in.

Common problems and fixes

The upload button doesn't appear in the comment form
Why it happens
wpDiscuz isn't active, a cache serves an old form, or the add-on is switched off in its settings.
How to fix it
Check wpDiscuz is active, clear caches, and review the add-on's settings.
“The link you followed has expired.” when uploading
Why it happens
The zip is larger than your server's PHP upload limit (upload_max_filesize / post_max_size).
How to fix it
Raise the upload limit in your hosting control panel, or unzip the file and upload the folder to wp-content/plugins with your host's file manager or SFTP.
“The package could not be installed. No valid plugins were found.”
Why it happens
The uploaded zip is a bundle (or a theme), not the plugin itself.
How to fix it
Unzip the download once and upload the inner zip named after the plugin.
“Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.”
Why it happens
Usually a PHP version older than the plugin needs, or a second copy of the same plugin (for example the free version) still active.
How to fix it
Check your PHP version under Tools → Site Health → Info, deactivate any other copy of the plugin, and enable WP_DEBUG_LOG to see the exact error.
Licence or “updates unavailable” notices
Why it happens
The developer's licence key isn't included. Features that call the developer's servers (template libraries, cloud APIs, automatic updates) need it.
How to fix it
Everything that runs locally works without it. For a newer file, use Request an update from your account.
