About Gravity Forms Signature Addon 4.6.0

The Gravity Forms Signature Addon is an add-on from Rocketgenius, the makers of Gravity Forms. It adds a signature field to the form editor, so people can draw their signature on screen. That suits consent forms, agreements, order confirmations and any form that needs a signed acknowledgement.

It does nothing on its own: Gravity Forms must be installed and active first. The file on record is version 4.6.0 from February 2022. Test it with your current WordPress and Gravity Forms versions on a staging site before relying on it.

Requirements

  • Gravity Forms

Key features

Signature field
Adds a field you can place in any Gravity Forms form.
Draw to sign
Visitors sign on the form with a mouse, trackpad or touch screen.
Stored with the entry
The signature is saved with the form entry so you can review it in the entries list.
Field appearance options
The field has settings for how the signature pad looks; check the plugin documentation for the exact options.

Is it right for you?

A good fit for

  • Sites that collect signed consent, waivers or agreements through Gravity Forms
  • Agencies that already build forms with Gravity Forms and need a signature step

Look elsewhere if

  • Sites that don't use Gravity Forms, since the add-on needs it
  • Legal workflows that require certified e-signature records; a drawn field is not the same as a dedicated e-signature service

How to install Gravity Forms Signature Addon 4.6.0

  1. 1

    Download the file

Open My Account → Downloads and download the product. If the archive contains several zips (documentation, child theme, licensing files), you need the one named after the product.

  2. 2

    Upload it to WordPress

In your dashboard go to Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin and choose the zip.

  3. 3

    Install and activate

Click Install Now, then Activate. If an older or free copy is already installed, WordPress offers to replace it with the uploaded version.

Notes for this product

  • Install and activate Gravity Forms first, then the add-on. A signature field only appears in the form editor when both are active.

Setup: using Gravity Forms Signature Addon 4.6.0

  1. Activate Gravity Forms, then the add-on. Both plugins must be active before the signature field is available.
  2. Open a form in the editor. Go to Forms and edit the form that needs a signature.
  3. Add the Signature field. Look for it among the advanced fields and drop it into the form.
  4. Submit a test entry. Sign on a computer and on a phone, then open the entry to confirm the signature saved.

Common problems and fixes

The Signature field doesn't appear in the form editor
Why it happens
Gravity Forms isn't active, or the installed Gravity Forms version is too old for this add-on.
How to fix it
Activate Gravity Forms and test with a current version of it, then reload the editor.
“The link you followed has expired.” when uploading
Why it happens
The zip is larger than your server's PHP upload limit (upload_max_filesize / post_max_size).
How to fix it
Raise the upload limit in your hosting control panel, or unzip the file and upload the folder to wp-content/plugins with your host's file manager or SFTP.
“The package could not be installed. No valid plugins were found.”
Why it happens
The uploaded zip is a bundle (or a theme), not the plugin itself.
How to fix it
Unzip the download once and upload the inner zip named after the plugin.
“Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.”
Why it happens
Usually a PHP version older than the plugin needs, or a second copy of the same plugin (for example the free version) still active.
How to fix it
Check your PHP version under Tools → Site Health → Info, deactivate any other copy of the plugin, and enable WP_DEBUG_LOG to see the exact error.
Licence or “updates unavailable” notices
Why it happens
The developer's licence key isn't included. Features that call the developer's servers (template libraries, cloud APIs, automatic updates) need it.
How to fix it
Everything that runs locally works without it. For a newer file, use Request an update from your account.

Frequently asked questions

Does it work without Gravity Forms?

No. It extends Gravity Forms and needs it installed and active.

Can people sign on a phone?

Yes, the field is designed for touch screens as well as mouse input. Test it on a real phone.

Is it a legally binding e-signature?

It captures a drawn signature on your form. Whether that is enough depends on your country and use, so check with a legal adviser.

Will it work with current WordPress?

The file dates from February 2022. Test it on a staging copy with your current WordPress and Gravity Forms first.
