About ARMember WordPress Membership Plugin 4.0.2

ARMember is an all-in-one membership plugin for WordPress, originally sold on CodeCanyon. It lets you create membership plans, take payment for them, and restrict posts, pages and other content to members of the right plan. It also handles the member side: signup and login forms, profiles and account pages.

Where some membership plugins lean on many separate add-ons, ARMember puts plans, content rules, forms and payment gateways in one admin area. Affiliate tracking is not part of the core plugin; it comes from separate add-ons or an affiliate plugin.

The file on record is version 4.0.2 and dates from February 2019. Payment gateway APIs have changed since then, so install it on staging and run each gateway in sandbox mode before taking real payments.

Key features

Membership plans
Create free, paid, one-time or recurring plans and set what each plan grants.
Content restriction

Drip content
Release content to members over time after they join a plan.
Form builder
Build signup, login and profile forms with your own fields and styling.
Payment gateways

Member management
View, add and change members and their plans from the ARMember admin screens.

Is it right for you?

A good fit for

  • Sites selling paid access to content, courses or downloads on WordPress
  • Owners who want plans, forms and content rules in one plugin

Look elsewhere if

  • Sites that only need an affiliate program, which ARMember doesn't include by itself
  • Stores already using another membership plugin they would have to migrate away from

How to install ARMember WordPress Membership Plugin 4.0.2

  1. 1

    Download the file

Open My Account → Downloads and download the product. If the archive contains several zips (documentation, child theme, licensing files), you need the one named after the product.

  2. 2

    Upload it to WordPress

In your dashboard go to Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin and choose the zip.

  3. 3

    Install and activate

Click Install Now, then Activate. If an older or free copy is already installed, WordPress offers to replace it with the uploaded version.

Notes for this product

  • Deactivate any other membership or content-restriction plugin first, since two plugins controlling access will conflict. The file dates from 2019, so test it with your current WordPress and PHP on staging.

Setup: using ARMember WordPress Membership Plugin 4.0.2

  1. Activate ARMember. Activate the plugin and open the ARMember menu in the dashboard.
  2. Create your plans. Add a plan for each access level, with its price and billing type.
  3. Set up a gateway in sandbox mode. Enter your payment gateway credentials in the payment settings and keep it in sandbox mode for now.
  4. Build the signup page. Create a signup form, link it to your plans, and place it on a page.
  5. Add access rules. Choose which posts, pages and categories each plan can see.
  6. Test as a new member. Sign up in a private window, pay with sandbox details, and confirm the restricted content opens.

Common problems and fixes

Members still see a locked page, or logged-out visitors see members' content
Why it happens
A page cache serves the same cached copy to everyone.
How to fix it
Exclude member pages and logged-in users from your caching plugin and server cache.
“The link you followed has expired.” when uploading
Why it happens
The zip is larger than your server's PHP upload limit (upload_max_filesize / post_max_size).
How to fix it
Raise the upload limit in your hosting control panel, or unzip the file and upload the folder to wp-content/plugins with your host's file manager or SFTP.
“The package could not be installed. No valid plugins were found.”
Why it happens
The uploaded zip is a bundle (or a theme), not the plugin itself.
How to fix it
Unzip the download once and upload the inner zip named after the plugin.
“Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.”
Why it happens
Usually a PHP version older than the plugin needs, or a second copy of the same plugin (for example the free version) still active.
How to fix it
Check your PHP version under Tools → Site Health → Info, deactivate any other copy of the plugin, and enable WP_DEBUG_LOG to see the exact error.
Licence or “updates unavailable” notices
Why it happens
The developer's licence key isn't included. Features that call the developer's servers (template libraries, cloud APIs, automatic updates) need it.
How to fix it
Everything that runs locally works without it. For a newer file, use Request an update from your account.

Which payment gateways can I use?

It supports common gateways such as PayPal and Stripe. Check the documentation in the package for the full list, and test each in sandbox mode.

Will it work with current WordPress?

The file dates from February 2019. Test it on a staging site with your current WordPress and PHP first.
