About WPForms Stripe Addon 3.3.0

WPForms Stripe Addon is an extension for the WPForms form builder. It adds a Stripe card field and Stripe settings to your forms, so a visitor can fill in a form and pay in the same step. People search for it as "wpforms stripe", usually because they want a payment or order form without installing a full shop plugin.

It does nothing on its own. WPForms must be installed and active first, and you need a Stripe account to get the keys or connection that link your site to it. The form still does its normal jobs of saving entries and sending notifications; the add-on adds the payment step.

The file on record is version 3.3.0 from August 2022. Stripe's card and authentication rules have changed over time, so run a test payment in Stripe's test mode on a staging site with your current WordPress and WPForms before you take real money.

Requirements

  • WPForms
  • A Stripe account
  • A site served over HTTPS so the card field can load

Key features

Stripe card field in forms
Adds a credit card field to the WPForms builder so payment sits inside the form itself.
Payments from form totals
Charges the amount worked out from the form's payment fields, such as item or total fields.
Test mode
Lets you submit test payments with Stripe's test cards before switching the form to live payments.
Payment details with entries
Payment status and amount are recorded alongside the entry in WPForms.
Works with WPForms notifications
Confirmation messages and email notifications run as they do for any WPForms form.

Is it right for you?

A good fit for

  • Sites that already use WPForms and want to take card payments in a form
  • Order, booking-deposit or donation forms where a full shop is too much

Look elsewhere if

  • Sites that use another form plugin, since this add-on only works with WPForms
  • Shops that need carts, stock and shipping, where a WooCommerce gateway fits better

How to install WPForms Stripe Addon 3.3.0

  1. 1

    Download the file

Open My Account → Downloads and download the product. If the archive contains several zips (documentation, child theme, licensing files), you need the one named after the product.

  2. 2

    Upload it to WordPress

In your dashboard go to Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin and choose the zip.

  3. 3

    Install and activate

Click Install Now, then Activate. If an older or free copy is already installed, WordPress offers to replace it with the uploaded version.

Notes for this product

  • Install and activate WPForms first, then this add-on. The listing doesn't state which WPForms versions the file supports, so confirm that on a staging copy.

Setup: using WPForms Stripe Addon 3.3.0

  1. Activate WPForms, then the add-on. Make sure WPForms is active, then activate the Stripe add-on.
  2. Connect Stripe. In the WPForms settings, open the Payments tab and connect your Stripe account or enter your test keys.
  3. Add the card field. In the form builder, add a payment item or total field and the Stripe credit card field.
  4. Turn on Stripe for the form. Open the form's Payments settings, enable Stripe and choose the receipt email field.
  5. Run a test payment. Submit the form in test mode with a Stripe test card, then check the payment in your Stripe dashboard.

Common problems and fixes

The card field shows an error or doesn't appear on the page
Why it happens
Stripe isn't enabled in the form's Payments settings, the keys are for the wrong mode, or the page isn't on HTTPS.
How to fix it
Enable Stripe for the form, check the test or live keys match the mode you chose, and load the page over HTTPS.
The form submits but no payment shows in Stripe
Why it happens
The Stripe field is missing from the form, or the form is saving entries without the payment step enabled.
How to fix it
Confirm the payment total field and the Stripe field are both in the form and Stripe is switched on in its settings.
“The link you followed has expired.” when uploading
Why it happens
The zip is larger than your server's PHP upload limit (upload_max_filesize / post_max_size).
How to fix it
Raise the upload limit in your hosting control panel, or unzip the file and upload the folder to wp-content/plugins with your host's file manager or SFTP.
“The package could not be installed. No valid plugins were found.”
Why it happens
The uploaded zip is a bundle (or a theme), not the plugin itself.
How to fix it
Unzip the download once and upload the inner zip named after the plugin.
“Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.”
Why it happens
Usually a PHP version older than the plugin needs, or a second copy of the same plugin (for example the free version) still active.
How to fix it
Check your PHP version under Tools → Site Health → Info, deactivate any other copy of the plugin, and enable WP_DEBUG_LOG to see the exact error.
Licence or “updates unavailable” notices
Why it happens
The developer's licence key isn't included. Features that call the developer's servers (template libraries, cloud APIs, automatic updates) need it.
How to fix it
Everything that runs locally works without it. For a newer file, use Request an update from your account.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need WPForms as well?

Yes. This is an add-on and works only inside WPForms, so install and activate WPForms first.

Do I need a Stripe account?

Yes. Payments go through your own Stripe account, and you connect it in the WPForms settings.

Can I test without charging a real card?

Yes. Use Stripe's test mode and test card numbers, and only switch to live mode after the test payment shows up correctly.

Will this version work with current WordPress and Stripe rules?

The file on record is from August 2022. Stripe's authentication requirements have changed since, so test on a staging site first.
