About WooCommerce Product Gallery Slider 1.4.2

WooCommerce Product Gallery Slider uses FlexSlider, a jQuery slider, to show the images from a WooCommerce product gallery as a slideshow. You add images to the product gallery as usual, and the plugin builds the slider from them.

The listing mentions slide and fade effects among its slideshow options but doesn't list the rest, so check the documentation in the package for the full set. The file on record is version 1.4.2 from September 2017. Newer WooCommerce releases ship their own gallery with zoom and lightbox, so test this on a staging site before putting it on a live shop.

Requirements

  • WooCommerce

Key features

FlexSlider based
Builds the gallery with FlexSlider, a widely used jQuery slider.
Built from product gallery images
The slider is generated from the images already in your product gallery.
Slide and fade effects
Slideshow options include sliding and fading, with more listed as available.
WooCommerce product pages
Replaces the product page gallery display rather than adding a separate shortcode area.

Is it right for you?

A good fit for

  • Shops that want a slideshow-style gallery on product pages
  • Owners who already keep several images per product in the WooCommerce gallery

Look elsewhere if

  • Sites that want the current WooCommerce gallery with zoom and lightbox as it is
  • Themes that already replace the product gallery with their own, which can clash with this plugin

How to install WooCommerce Product Gallery Slider 1.4.2

Notes for this product

  • If your theme has its own product gallery or slider, expect the two to compete. Check your theme settings after activating.

Setup: using WooCommerce Product Gallery Slider 1.4.2

  1. Test on a staging copy. The file dates from 2017, so check it against your current WooCommerce there first.

  4. Check the product page. View the product as a visitor and test the slider on a phone as well as a desktop.

Common problems and fixes

The slider does not show, or the old gallery still appears
Why it happens
The theme overrides WooCommerce's product image template, or a script conflict stops FlexSlider loading.
How to fix it
Switch to a default theme briefly to confirm, then adjust the theme's product image template or its gallery setting.
Slider images look stretched or cut off
Why it happens
Gallery thumbnails were made at different sizes than the slider now expects.
How to fix it
Regenerate product thumbnails and use images of a similar shape across a product.
“The link you followed has expired.” when uploading
Why it happens
The zip is larger than your server's PHP upload limit (upload_max_filesize / post_max_size).
How to fix it
Raise the upload limit in your hosting control panel, or unzip the file and upload the folder to wp-content/plugins with your host's file manager or SFTP.
“The package could not be installed. No valid plugins were found.”
Why it happens
The uploaded zip is a bundle (or a theme), not the plugin itself.
How to fix it
Unzip the download once and upload the inner zip named after the plugin.
“Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.”
Why it happens
Usually a PHP version older than the plugin needs, or a second copy of the same plugin (for example the free version) still active.
How to fix it
Check your PHP version under Tools → Site Health → Info, deactivate any other copy of the plugin, and enable WP_DEBUG_LOG to see the exact error.
Licence or “updates unavailable” notices
Why it happens
The developer's licence key isn't included. Features that call the developer's servers (template libraries, cloud APIs, automatic updates) need it.
How to fix it
Everything that runs locally works without it. For a newer file, use Request an update from your account.
