About MyThemeShop – WP Tab Widget Pro 1.0.7

WP Tab Widget Pro is a plugin from MyThemeShop that adds a tabbed widget to WordPress. A tabbed widget packs several short lists, such as popular posts, recent posts or comments, into one sidebar box that visitors switch between. The listing gives no feature list, so check the documentation in the package for the tabs it offers.

It is a widget for the classic widget screens in your sidebars or footers. The file on record is version 1.0.7 and dates from October 2018. WordPress has since added a block-based widget editor, so test on a staging site to see how it behaves in your theme and with your current WordPress and PHP.

Requirements

  • WordPress theme with at least one widget area

Key features

Tabbed widget
Places several content lists inside one widget with tabs.
Sidebar and footer use
Widgets are added to any widget area your theme provides.
Plugin, not theme-bound
Works with themes that support widget areas, not only MyThemeShop themes.
Options in the package
The listing doesn't state the tab types, so check the documentation.

Is it right for you?

A good fit for

  • Blogs that want popular and recent posts in one compact sidebar box
  • Site owners who want to save sidebar space with tabs

Look elsewhere if

  • Sites with no sidebar or widget areas
  • Anyone who needs a confirmed tab list before installing

How to install MyThemeShop – WP Tab Widget Pro 1.0.7

  1. 1

    Download the file

Open My Account → Downloads and download the product. If the archive contains several zips (documentation, child theme, licensing files), you need the one named after the product.

  2. 2

    Upload it to WordPress

In your dashboard go to Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin and choose the zip.

  3. 3

    Install and activate

Click Install Now, then Activate. If an older or free copy is already installed, WordPress offers to replace it with the uploaded version.

Notes for this product

  • If your widgets screen is block-based and the widget doesn't appear, check the documentation for a classic widgets approach and test it on staging.

Setup: using MyThemeShop – WP Tab Widget Pro 1.0.7

  1. Activate the plugin. Upload and activate it, then open Appearance, Widgets.
  2. Add the tab widget. Drag it into a sidebar or footer area.
  3. Choose the tabs. Pick which lists to show and how many items, based on the options it offers.
  4. Check the front end. View a post on desktop and phone and confirm the tabs switch correctly.

Common problems and fixes

The widget doesn't appear in the widgets screen
Why it happens
The block-based widget editor in newer WordPress versions may not list older widgets.
How to fix it
Look for a classic widgets option, or test the plugin on a staging site with the classic widgets setup.
“The link you followed has expired.” when uploading
Why it happens
The zip is larger than your server's PHP upload limit (upload_max_filesize / post_max_size).
How to fix it
Raise the upload limit in your hosting control panel, or unzip the file and upload the folder to wp-content/plugins with your host's file manager or SFTP.
“The package could not be installed. No valid plugins were found.”
Why it happens
The uploaded zip is a bundle (or a theme), not the plugin itself.
How to fix it
Unzip the download once and upload the inner zip named after the plugin.
“Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.”
Why it happens
Usually a PHP version older than the plugin needs, or a second copy of the same plugin (for example the free version) still active.
How to fix it
Check your PHP version under Tools → Site Health → Info, deactivate any other copy of the plugin, and enable WP_DEBUG_LOG to see the exact error.
Licence or “updates unavailable” notices
Why it happens
The developer's licence key isn't included. Features that call the developer's servers (template libraries, cloud APIs, automatic updates) need it.
How to fix it
Everything that runs locally works without it. For a newer file, use Request an update from your account.
