About LearnPress – 2checkout Payment Add-on 4.0.0
This is a payment add-on for LearnPress, the WordPress LMS plugin from ThimPress. It adds 2Checkout as a payment method on the LearnPress checkout, so a student can pay for a course by card through 2Checkout and be enrolled once the payment is confirmed. It does nothing on its own: LearnPress must be installed and active first.
2Checkout has since been rebranded as Verifone, and its payment pages and APIs have changed over time. The file on record is version 4.0.0 and dates from July 2020, so set it up on a staging site and run test orders before you take real payments. If you searched for WooCommerce and LearnPress together, note that this add-on uses LearnPress's own checkout, not the WooCommerce cart.

How to install LearnPress – 2checkout Payment Add-on 4.0.0

Download the file
Open My Account → Downloads and download the product. If the archive contains several zips (documentation, child theme, licensing files), you need the one named after the product.

Upload it to WordPress
In your dashboard go to Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin and choose the zip.

Click Install Now, then Activate. If an older or free copy is already installed, WordPress offers to replace it with the uploaded version.

Setup: using LearnPress – 2checkout Payment Add-on 4.0.0
- Install LearnPress first. Make sure LearnPress is active and you have at least one paid course.
- Activate the add-on. Upload and activate the 2Checkout add-on in Plugins.
- Enter your account details. Open the LearnPress payment settings, enable 2Checkout and enter the account credentials it asks for from your 2Checkout (Verifone) control panel.
- Set up payment notifications. If the add-on shows a notification or return URL, add it in your 2Checkout account so completed payments reach your site.
- Run a test order. Use 2Checkout's test or demo mode to buy a course, and check that the order completes and the student is enrolled.
Common problems and fixes
Students pay but the LearnPress order stays pending
- Why it happens
- The payment notification from 2Checkout isn't reaching your site, or the secret word or credentials don't match.
- How to fix it
- Check the notification URL and credentials in both your 2Checkout account and the LearnPress settings, then run another test order.
2Checkout doesn't appear at checkout
- Why it happens
- The gateway isn't enabled in the LearnPress payment settings, or the course is set as free.
- How to fix it
- Enable 2Checkout in the payment settings and confirm the course has a price.
“The link you followed has expired.” when uploading
- Why it happens
- The zip is larger than your server's PHP upload limit (upload_max_filesize / post_max_size).
- How to fix it
- Raise the upload limit in your hosting control panel, or unzip the file and upload the folder to wp-content/plugins with your host's file manager or SFTP.
“The package could not be installed. No valid plugins were found.”
- Why it happens
- The uploaded zip is a bundle (or a theme), not the plugin itself.
- How to fix it
- Unzip the download once and upload the inner zip named after the plugin.
“Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.”
- Why it happens
- Usually a PHP version older than the plugin needs, or a second copy of the same plugin (for example the free version) still active.
- How to fix it
- Check your PHP version under Tools → Site Health → Info, deactivate any other copy of the plugin, and enable WP_DEBUG_LOG to see the exact error.
Licence or “updates unavailable” notices
- Why it happens
- The developer's licence key isn't included. Features that call the developer's servers (template libraries, cloud APIs, automatic updates) need it.
- How to fix it
- Everything that runs locally works without it. For a newer file, use Request an update from your account.
