About Gravity Forms Square Add-On 2.1.0
Gravity Forms Square Add-On connects Gravity Forms to Square, so a form on your site can collect card payments through your Square account. It is made by Rocketgenius, the maker of Gravity Forms. The listing gives only file details: version 2.1.0, released February 2022, about 1.65 MB.
It is an add-on, so it does nothing without the Gravity Forms plugin. You also need a Square account. Square's API and Gravity Forms have both changed since early 2022, so use Square's sandbox to test a payment on staging before accepting real card payments.
Requirements
- Gravity Forms
- A Square account
Key features

Setup: using Gravity Forms Square Add-On 2.1.0
- Activate Gravity Forms. Make sure Gravity Forms is installed and working on a staging site.
- Install the add-on. Activate the Square add-on and open its settings under Forms.
- Connect Square. Link your Square account, using the sandbox first.
- Add a payment to a form. Add the Square payment field and feed to a form, then run a test payment.
Common problems and fixes
The card field doesn't show, or the payment fails with a connection error
- Why it happens
- The site isn't on HTTPS, Square isn't connected, or the add-on doesn't match your Gravity Forms version.
- How to fix it
- Use HTTPS, reconnect Square, and update Gravity Forms. Test in sandbox first.
“The link you followed has expired.” when uploading
- Why it happens
- The zip is larger than your server's PHP upload limit (upload_max_filesize / post_max_size).
- How to fix it
- Raise the upload limit in your hosting control panel, or unzip the file and upload the folder to wp-content/plugins with your host's file manager or SFTP.
“The package could not be installed. No valid plugins were found.”
- Why it happens
- The uploaded zip is a bundle (or a theme), not the plugin itself.
- How to fix it
- Unzip the download once and upload the inner zip named after the plugin.
“Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.”
- Why it happens
- Usually a PHP version older than the plugin needs, or a second copy of the same plugin (for example the free version) still active.
- How to fix it
- Check your PHP version under Tools → Site Health → Info, deactivate any other copy of the plugin, and enable WP_DEBUG_LOG to see the exact error.
Licence or “updates unavailable” notices
- Why it happens
- The developer's licence key isn't included. Features that call the developer's servers (template libraries, cloud APIs, automatic updates) need it.
- How to fix it
- Everything that runs locally works without it. For a newer file, use Request an update from your account.

Do I need a Square account?
Yes, since payments go through Square.
Will it work with current Gravity Forms?
The file is from February 2022. Test with your current Gravity Forms version in sandbox mode first.
