About Content Egg – all in one plugin for Affiliate, Price Comparison, Deal sites 9.9.0
Content Egg is a WordPress plugin for affiliate, price comparison and deal sites. In practice it connects to affiliate networks and retailer feeds through modules, then inserts product offers, prices and coupons into posts. You turn on the modules you need and add each service's own API keys.
The file on record is version 9.9.0, dated January 2022, and the title shows a different version number, so rely on the file. Because affiliate and retailer APIs change often, test each module on staging before relying on it. You also need accounts with the networks you use.
Requirements
- Accounts or API keys for the affiliate networks or merchants you connect
Key features
- Affiliate and price comparison
- Built to show offers from several merchants side by side in a post.
- Deal and coupon sites
- Positioned for deal sites, not only product reviews.
- Module-based sources
- Merchant and network sources are enabled as separate modules, each with its own settings.
- Content inside posts
- Offers are placed in posts and pages through the editor.
Is it right for you?
A good fit for
- Affiliate bloggers who write product reviews and comparisons
- Deal and coupon sites that want product data filled in for them
Look elsewhere if
- Sites with no affiliate or retailer accounts
- Anyone who wants plug-and-play with no API keys

Common problems and fixes
A module returns no results or an API error
- Why it happens
- The API key is wrong, the affiliate account isn't approved, or the service changed its API.
- How to fix it
- Re-enter the key, confirm the account status with the service, and check the module settings.
Prices shown are out of date
- Why it happens
- Offer data is cached and refreshed on a schedule.
- How to fix it
- Check the plugin's cache settings and make sure WordPress cron runs on your host.
“The link you followed has expired.” when uploading
- Why it happens
- The zip is larger than your server's PHP upload limit (upload_max_filesize / post_max_size).
- How to fix it
- Raise the upload limit in your hosting control panel, or unzip the file and upload the folder to wp-content/plugins with your host's file manager or SFTP.
“The package could not be installed. No valid plugins were found.”
- Why it happens
- The uploaded zip is a bundle (or a theme), not the plugin itself.
- How to fix it
- Unzip the download once and upload the inner zip named after the plugin.
“Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.”
- Why it happens
- Usually a PHP version older than the plugin needs, or a second copy of the same plugin (for example the free version) still active.
- How to fix it
- Check your PHP version under Tools → Site Health → Info, deactivate any other copy of the plugin, and enable WP_DEBUG_LOG to see the exact error.
Licence or “updates unavailable” notices
- Why it happens
- The developer's licence key isn't included. Features that call the developer's servers (template libraries, cloud APIs, automatic updates) need it.
- How to fix it
- Everything that runs locally works without it. For a newer file, use Request an update from your account.
