About Astra Pro WordPress Plugin 4.6.1

Astra Pro is an add-on plugin for the Astra theme. It does not work as a standalone plugin. It extends the Astra theme with extra options, such as more control over headers, layouts, typography and colours, plus extras for WooCommerce sites. The exact module list depends on the version, so check the documentation in the package.

Astra must be installed and active first. The slug says 2.6.4 and the old description mentions that number, but the version on file is 4.6.1, released in September 2022, with a package of about 3 MB. Use the file's own version as the reference, and test it with your Astra theme version on a staging site first.

Requirements

  • Astra theme (installed and active)
  • WordPress

Key features

Extends the Astra theme
Adds options on top of the theme rather than replacing it.
Extra layout and header options
Gives more control over headers, page layouts and sitewide spacing.
Typography and colour controls
Adds finer styling settings in the WordPress customiser.
WooCommerce extras
Includes shop-related options for stores that use WooCommerce.
Module list in the package
The listing doesn't give a full list, so check the documentation.

Is it right for you?

A good fit for

  • Sites already built on the Astra theme that want more design control
  • Developers who prefer customiser settings to custom CSS

Look elsewhere if

  • Sites that use a different theme, since it needs Astra
  • Anyone expecting security or payment features, which this is not

How to install Astra Pro WordPress Plugin 4.6.1

  1. 1

    Download the file

Open My Account → Downloads and download the product. If the archive contains several zips (documentation, child theme, licensing files), you need the one named after the product.

  2. 2

    Upload it to WordPress

In your dashboard go to Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin and choose the zip.

  3. 3

    Install and activate

Click Install Now, then Activate. If an older or free copy is already installed, WordPress offers to replace it with the uploaded version.

Notes for this product

  • Install and activate the Astra theme first, then the Astra Pro plugin. The version of the theme and the plugin should match as closely as possible.

Setup: using Astra Pro WordPress Plugin 4.6.1

  1. Activate the Astra theme. Make sure Astra is installed and active on the site.
  2. Activate Astra Pro. Upload and activate the plugin, then check for new options in the theme's settings.
  3. Turn on the modules you need. Open the Astra options page and enable the features you plan to use.
  4. Adjust in the customiser. Use Appearance, Customize to set your header, layout and typography.

Common problems and fixes

New Astra Pro options don't appear in the customiser
Why it happens
The module is switched off, or the plugin and theme versions don't match.
How to fix it
Enable the module in the Astra options page and keep the theme and plugin at compatible versions.
“The link you followed has expired.” when uploading
Why it happens
The zip is larger than your server's PHP upload limit (upload_max_filesize / post_max_size).
How to fix it
Raise the upload limit in your hosting control panel, or unzip the file and upload the folder to wp-content/plugins with your host's file manager or SFTP.
“The package could not be installed. No valid plugins were found.”
Why it happens
The uploaded zip is a bundle (or a theme), not the plugin itself.
How to fix it
Unzip the download once and upload the inner zip named after the plugin.
“Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.”
Why it happens
Usually a PHP version older than the plugin needs, or a second copy of the same plugin (for example the free version) still active.
How to fix it
Check your PHP version under Tools → Site Health → Info, deactivate any other copy of the plugin, and enable WP_DEBUG_LOG to see the exact error.
Licence or “updates unavailable” notices
Why it happens
The developer's licence key isn't included. Features that call the developer's servers (template libraries, cloud APIs, automatic updates) need it.
How to fix it
Everything that runs locally works without it. For a newer file, use Request an update from your account.

Does it add security or payment features?

No. It adds design and layout options to the theme.

Will it work with the current Astra theme?

The file dates from September 2022, so test it on staging with your current Astra, WordPress and PHP.
