About Artrite – Marvellous Art & Paintings Online Store Shopify Theme

Artrite is a Shopify theme for selling art and paintings online. Its categories include Creative, Gallery, eCommerce and Art Culture, so the look is meant for showing artwork rather than general retail goods.

The listing says little beyond that. The legacy text makes broad claims about payments and security, but a Shopify theme only controls how the store looks; payments are handled by Shopify. It doesn't state the sections, collections layouts or apps it expects, so read the documentation in the package. The file on record is from September 2020.

How to install Artrite – Marvellous Art & Paintings Online Store Shopify Theme

1
Download the file
Open My Account → Downloads and download the product. If the archive contains several zips (documentation, child theme, licensing files), you need the one named after the product.
2
Upload the theme zip
In Shopify admin go to Online Store → Themes → Add theme → Upload zip file. The correct zip has folders such as layout, sections and templates at its top level.
3
Customize, then publish
Click Customize to set up sections and colours. The theme stays unpublished until you click Publish, so your live store is unaffected while you work.

Setup: using Artrite – Marvellous Art & Paintings Online Store Shopify Theme

Upload the theme. Upload the theme zip in Shopify admin > Online Store > Themes.
Add your collections and products. Create collections for your artwork and add images, sizes and prices.
Customise sections. Use the theme editor to arrange the homepage, header and footer.
Preview before publishing. Check the theme on desktop and phone, then publish it.

Common problems and fixes

Shopify says the zip isn't a valid theme

Why it happens: The download package or a re-zipped parent folder was uploaded, so layout/theme.liquid isn't at the top level.
How to fix it: Unzip the package once and upload the inner theme zip as it is.

The store looks empty compared with the demo

Why it happens: Theme files contain layout and settings, not the demo's products and images.
How to fix it: Add your products and collections, then assign them to sections in Customize.
