About WPForms Zapier Addon 1.4.0

The WPForms Zapier addon connects your WordPress forms to Zapier. When someone submits a form, the entry is passed to Zapier as a trigger, and a Zap you build there can add the data to a spreadsheet, a CRM, an email list, a project tool or a chat channel, without custom code.

It is an addon, not a form builder. You need WPForms installed and active, and a Zapier account to build the Zaps; how many Zaps and tasks you can run depends on your Zapier plan. The file on record is version 1.4.0 and dates from October 2019, so test it with your current WPForms version on a staging site first.

Requirements

  • WPForms
  • A Zapier account

Key features

WPForms entries as Zapier triggers
Each new form submission can start a Zap in your Zapier account.
Per-form Zaps
Choose which form a Zap listens to, so a contact form and an order form can go to different places.
Field mapping in Zapier
Form fields arrive as separate values that you map onto the destination app's fields.
Connects to apps without a direct addon
Reach services WPForms has no native integration for, through Zapier's app directory.
API key connection
Zapier connects to your site with an API key generated in the WPForms integration settings.

Is it right for you?

A good fit for

  • WPForms users who need entries in a CRM, spreadsheet or tool WPForms doesn't integrate with directly
  • Small teams automating lead routing and notifications without a developer

Look elsewhere if

  • Sites using another form plugin, or anyone without a Zapier account
  • Simple needs already covered by WPForms' own email notifications or native integrations

How to install WPForms Zapier Addon 1.4.0

  1. 1

    Download the file

Open My Account → Downloads and download the product. If the archive contains several zips (documentation, child theme, licensing files), you need the one named after the product.

  2. 2

    Upload it to WordPress

In your dashboard go to Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin and choose the zip.

  3. 3

    Install and activate

Click Install Now, then Activate. If an older or free copy is already installed, WordPress offers to replace it with the uploaded version.

Notes for this product

  • Install and activate WPForms before the addon. The Zapier connection lives under the WPForms integration settings, not in a separate menu.

Setup: using WPForms Zapier Addon 1.4.0

  1. Activate the addon. With WPForms active, upload and activate the Zapier addon.
  2. Copy the API key. Go to WPForms, Settings, Integrations, open Zapier and copy the API key shown there.
  3. Start a Zap with WPForms as the trigger. In Zapier, create a Zap, choose the WPForms app and the new form entry trigger, then enter your site URL and the API key.
  4. Submit a test entry. Fill in the form once on your site so Zapier has sample data to map.
  5. Add the action and turn the Zap on. Choose the destination app, map the form fields, run a test and switch the Zap on.

Common problems and fixes

Zapier finds no sample entries
Why it happens
Zapier can only show sample data after the form has received at least one submission.
How to fix it
Submit a test entry on the live form, then retest the trigger in Zapier.
Zapier can't connect to the site
Why it happens
The site URL or API key is wrong, or a security plugin or firewall blocks the request.
How to fix it
Re-copy the key from the WPForms Zapier settings, use the exact site URL, and allow the request in your firewall.
“The link you followed has expired.” when uploading
Why it happens
The zip is larger than your server's PHP upload limit (upload_max_filesize / post_max_size).
How to fix it
Raise the upload limit in your hosting control panel, or unzip the file and upload the folder to wp-content/plugins with your host's file manager or SFTP.
“The package could not be installed. No valid plugins were found.”
Why it happens
The uploaded zip is a bundle (or a theme), not the plugin itself.
How to fix it
Unzip the download once and upload the inner zip named after the plugin.
“Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.”
Why it happens
Usually a PHP version older than the plugin needs, or a second copy of the same plugin (for example the free version) still active.
How to fix it
Check your PHP version under Tools → Site Health → Info, deactivate any other copy of the plugin, and enable WP_DEBUG_LOG to see the exact error.
Licence or “updates unavailable” notices
Why it happens
The developer's licence key isn't included. Features that call the developer's servers (template libraries, cloud APIs, automatic updates) need it.
How to fix it
Everything that runs locally works without it. For a newer file, use Request an update from your account.

Frequently asked questions

Does it work without WPForms?

No. It is an addon and needs WPForms installed and active.

Do I need a Zapier account?

Yes. The Zaps are built and run in Zapier, and your Zapier plan sets how many tasks you can run.

Are entries sent instantly?

Entries are sent to Zapier when the form is submitted; how soon the Zap runs depends on Zapier.

Can one form feed several apps?

Yes. Build several Zaps on the same form, or add several actions to one Zap.
