About WPForms Signature Addon 1.8.0
WPForms Signature Addon adds a signature field to forms built with WPForms. Visitors draw their signature with a mouse or finger, and it is saved with the rest of the form entry. It suits agreements, consent forms, waivers and any form where you want a handwritten mark.
It is an add-on, not a form builder. You need WPForms installed and active, and the add-on must be supported by the WPForms version you use. Once active, the signature appears as a field you drag into the form builder like any other.
The file on record is version 1.8.0 and dates from October 2019. Test it with your current WordPress and WPForms versions on a staging site, and check how the signature shows up in entries and emails before relying on it.
Requirements
- WPForms
Key features
- Signature field
- Adds a signature field that you place in the WPForms builder.
- Draw with mouse or touch
- Visitors sign on screen with a pointer or a finger.
- Stored with the entry
- The signature is saved with the form entry, alongside the other answers.
- Works like any other field
- Drag it into a form, set a label, and mark it required if needed.
- Fits agreement-style forms
- Useful for consent, waiver and contract forms built in WPForms.
Is it right for you?
A good fit for
- Sites using WPForms that need visitors to sign a form
- Clinics, schools and clubs collecting consent or waivers online
Look elsewhere if
- Sites that don't use WPForms, since this works only with it
- Cases that need legally binding e-signatures with identity checks or audit certificates

Notes for this product
- This is an add-on for WPForms. Install and activate WPForms first, then this file.
Setup: using WPForms Signature Addon 1.8.0
- Activate WPForms first. Make sure WPForms is installed and active, then activate the Signature Addon.
- Open a form in the builder. Edit an existing form, or create a new one, in the WPForms builder.
- Add the signature field. Drag the Signature field into the form, set its label, and mark it required if needed.
- Embed and test. Put the form on a page, sign it on a phone and a desktop, and submit.
- Check the entry and notification. Open the saved entry and your email notification to confirm the signature appears.
Common problems and fixes
The Signature field is missing in the form builder
- Why it happens
- WPForms isn't active, or the add-on isn't compatible with the installed WPForms version.
- How to fix it
- Activate WPForms, update it, then reload the builder. If it is still missing, test on a fresh staging site.
The signature area doesn't respond on a phone
- Why it happens
- A script conflict or optimization plugin may be blocking the signature script.
- How to fix it
- Exclude the form page from script minify or defer settings and test with other plugins disabled.
“The link you followed has expired.” when uploading
- Why it happens
- The zip is larger than your server's PHP upload limit (upload_max_filesize / post_max_size).
- How to fix it
- Raise the upload limit in your hosting control panel, or unzip the file and upload the folder to wp-content/plugins with your host's file manager or SFTP.
“The package could not be installed. No valid plugins were found.”
- Why it happens
- The uploaded zip is a bundle (or a theme), not the plugin itself.
- How to fix it
- Unzip the download once and upload the inner zip named after the plugin.
“Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.”
- Why it happens
- Usually a PHP version older than the plugin needs, or a second copy of the same plugin (for example the free version) still active.
- How to fix it
- Check your PHP version under Tools → Site Health → Info, deactivate any other copy of the plugin, and enable WP_DEBUG_LOG to see the exact error.
Licence or “updates unavailable” notices
- Why it happens
- The developer's licence key isn't included. Features that call the developer's servers (template libraries, cloud APIs, automatic updates) need it.
- How to fix it
- Everything that runs locally works without it. For a newer file, use Request an update from your account.
Frequently asked questions
Does it work without WPForms?
No. It is an add-on that only adds a field to WPForms.
Can visitors sign on a phone?
The field is meant for drawing with a mouse or touch. Test on your own phone to confirm.
Is the signature legally binding?
The add-on only captures a drawn signature. Whether that meets your legal needs depends on your jurisdiction, so check with a professional.
Is the 2019 file still fine to use?
It dates from October 2019, so test it with your current WordPress and WPForms on a staging site first.
