About WPForms Post Submissions Addon 1.5.0

WPForms Post Submissions Addon is an add-on for WPForms. It lets you build a form that creates a WordPress post from what a visitor types in. That suits guest blogging, user-submitted stories or classified-style entries, without giving the writer access to the admin area.

It is an add-on, so WPForms must already be installed. The file on record is version 1.5.0 and dates from October 2019. Add-ons are tied to the version of the main plugin, so test it on staging with your current WPForms, WordPress and PHP. The listing gives no feature list; the documentation and WPForms' own settings show the available options.

Requirements

  • WPForms installed and active

Key features

Posts from forms
A submitted form creates a WordPress post.
Guest posting
Visitors can contribute without a WordPress login or admin access.
Field mapping
You connect form fields, such as title and content, to the parts of a post.
Review before publishing
You can keep submissions pending so you approve them first.

Is it right for you?

A good fit for

  • Blogs and community sites that accept guest posts
  • Sites that want user-submitted entries in a standard form

Look elsewhere if

  • Sites that don't use WPForms
  • Anyone who wants no moderation, since unreviewed public posts invite spam

How to install WPForms Post Submissions Addon 1.5.0

  1. 1

    Download the file

Open My Account → Downloads and download the product. If the archive contains several zips (documentation, child theme, licensing files), you need the one named after the product.

  2. 2

    Upload it to WordPress

In your dashboard go to Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin and choose the zip.

  3. 3

    Install and activate

Click Install Now, then Activate. If an older or free copy is already installed, WordPress offers to replace it with the uploaded version.

Notes for this product

  • Install WPForms first, then activate this add-on. The add-on adds a Post Submissions section to the form settings.

Setup: using WPForms Post Submissions Addon 1.5.0

  1. Install and activate WPForms. Make sure the main plugin runs before adding the add-on.
  2. Activate the add-on. Upload and activate it as a plugin.
  3. Build the form. Create a form with fields for title, content and anything else you need.
  4. Map the fields. In the form's settings, open Post Submissions and match each field to a post element.
  5. Set status and test. Choose a status such as pending, submit a test entry and check the post in the admin.

Common problems and fixes

A submission creates no post
Why it happens
Post Submissions is not enabled in the form settings, or the required fields aren't mapped.
How to fix it
Enable it in the form settings, map at least the title and content fields, then test again.
“The link you followed has expired.” when uploading
Why it happens
The zip is larger than your server's PHP upload limit (upload_max_filesize / post_max_size).
How to fix it
Raise the upload limit in your hosting control panel, or unzip the file and upload the folder to wp-content/plugins with your host's file manager or SFTP.
“The package could not be installed. No valid plugins were found.”
Why it happens
The uploaded zip is a bundle (or a theme), not the plugin itself.
How to fix it
Unzip the download once and upload the inner zip named after the plugin.
“Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.”
Why it happens
Usually a PHP version older than the plugin needs, or a second copy of the same plugin (for example the free version) still active.
How to fix it
Check your PHP version under Tools → Site Health → Info, deactivate any other copy of the plugin, and enable WP_DEBUG_LOG to see the exact error.
Licence or “updates unavailable” notices
Why it happens
The developer's licence key isn't included. Features that call the developer's servers (template libraries, cloud APIs, automatic updates) need it.
How to fix it
Everything that runs locally works without it. For a newer file, use Request an update from your account.
