About StudioPress No Sidebar Pro Genesis WordPress Theme 1.0.4

No Sidebar Pro is a StudioPress child theme for the Genesis Framework. As the name says, it drops the sidebar and puts your content in one focused column, which suits writers, bloggers and anyone whose site is mainly long-form reading. Genesis must be installed as the parent theme.

It is not Magazine Pro, which is a different StudioPress theme with a multi-column news layout. If you want a calm reading experience rather than a busy front page, No Sidebar Pro is the closer fit. The file on record is version 1.0.4 from November 2017, so test it with your current WordPress and PHP on a staging site.

Requirements

  • Genesis Framework (parent theme)

Key features

Genesis child theme
Runs on the Genesis Framework, which handles the core layout and settings.
No sidebar layout
Content sits in a single column with no sidebar competing for attention.
Reading-focused design
Made for long posts and essays, with plenty of white space.
Customizer settings
Logo, colours and other visual options are set in the WordPress Customizer.
Blog templates
Standard Genesis blog and archive templates for publishing regularly.

Is it right for you?

A good fit for

  • Writers and bloggers who want a distraction-free reading layout
  • Genesis users who want a minimal StudioPress design

Look elsewhere if

  • News or magazine sites that need sidebars and many story blocks on the front page

How to install StudioPress No Sidebar Pro Genesis WordPress Theme 1.0.4

  1. 1

    Download the file

Open My Account β†’ Downloads and download the product. If the archive contains several zips (documentation, child theme, licensing files), you need the one named after the product.

  2. 2

    Find the installable theme zip

Theme packages often bundle the theme, a child theme, plugins and docs. The installable theme is the zip that has style.css at its top level.

  3. 3

    Upload it to WordPress

Go to Appearance β†’ Themes β†’ Add New Theme β†’ Upload Theme, choose the theme zip, then Install Now and Activate.

  4. 4

    Install the recommended plugins

Most premium themes show a notice listing their required plugins. Install those before importing any demo content.

Notes for this product

  • Install the Genesis Framework first, then upload No Sidebar Pro and activate it, not Genesis. Keep Genesis installed.

Common problems and fixes

Activating the theme shows a missing parent theme error
Why it happens
No Sidebar Pro is a child theme and Genesis isn't installed.
How to fix it
Install the Genesis Framework, keep it installed, and activate No Sidebar Pro again.
Sidebar widgets you used before have disappeared
Why it happens
The theme has no sidebar, so widgets assigned to sidebars aren't displayed.
How to fix it
Move important widgets to the areas the theme does offer, or into the content itself.
β€œThe package could not be installed. The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet.”
Why it happens
The full download package was uploaded instead of the theme zip inside it.
How to fix it
Unzip the package and upload the zip that contains style.css at its top level.
β€œThe link you followed has expired.” when uploading
Why it happens
The zip is larger than your server's PHP upload limit (upload_max_filesize / post_max_size).
How to fix it
Raise the upload limit in your hosting control panel, or unzip the file and upload the folder to wp-content/themes with your host's file manager or SFTP.
Demo import stops part-way or times out
Why it happens
The server hits its execution-time or memory limit during the import.
How to fix it
Raise max_execution_time and memory_limit with your host, then re-run the importer; importing content, widgets and settings separately also helps.
Pages look broken right after activating
Why it happens
The theme's required plugins (page builder, theme core plugin) aren't installed yet.
How to fix it
Install and activate everything in the theme's required-plugins notice, then reload.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need the Genesis Framework?

Yes. It is a Genesis child theme, so install Genesis first and keep it installed.

Can I add a sidebar later?

The design is built without one. If you need a sidebar, pick a different StudioPress theme.
