About OboxThemes Ambition WordPress Theme 1.4.1

Ambition is a WordPress theme from OboxThemes, aimed at people who want to show off a sport or another talent. The description lists events held on set dates, video and sound clips, audio support and map integration.

It also mentions a homepage where you list achievements by category, plus sponsor entries with logos, descriptions, links and galleries. The file on record is version 1.4.1 from September 2017, which is old. Test it with your current WordPress and PHP on a staging site first, and read the documentation in the package.

Key features

Events on particular dates: The description lists events scheduled for specific days.
Video and sound clips: It mentions video records, sound clips and audio support.
Map integration: Maps can be added, for example to show where an event happens.
Achievements by category: You can list achievements in different categories on the homepage.
Sponsor showcase: Sponsors can be shown with logos, descriptions, links and galleries.

Is it right for you?

A good fit for

Athletes, musicians and other performers who want a personal showcase site

Look elsewhere if

Online shops, since the description doesn't mention store features
Sites that must run on current WordPress without testing, because the file is from 2017

How to install OboxThemes Ambition WordPress Theme 1.4.1

1
Download the file
Open My Account → Downloads and download the product. If the archive contains several zips (documentation, child theme, licensing files), you need the one named after the product.
2
Find the installable theme zip
Theme packages often bundle the theme, a child theme, plugins and docs. The installable theme is the zip that has style.css at its top level.
3
Upload it to WordPress
Go to Appearance → Themes → Add New Theme → Upload Theme, choose the theme zip, then Install Now and Activate.
4
Install the recommended plugins
Most premium themes show a notice listing their required plugins. Install those before importing any demo content.

Notes for this product

The listing doesn't mention a page builder or bundled plugins. If the theme prompts you to install any, accept only those it asks for, and read the package documentation.

Getting started: using OboxThemes Ambition WordPress Theme 1.4.1

Test on a staging site. Install and activate the theme on a copy of your site first, because the file dates from 2017.
Read the included documentation. Find out how the events, achievements and sponsor sections are set up.
Add your homepage content. Enter your achievements by category and your sponsor logos and links.
Add events, video and audio. Create your upcoming events and upload or embed clips.
Check the layout on phones. Look at the event list, maps and media on a phone.

Common problems and fixes

“The package could not be installed. The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet.”

Why it happens: The full download package was uploaded instead of the theme zip inside it.
How to fix it: Unzip the package and upload the zip that contains style.css at its top level.

“The link you followed has expired.” when uploading

Why it happens: The zip is larger than your server's PHP upload limit (upload_max_filesize / post_max_size).
How to fix it: Raise the upload limit in your hosting control panel, or unzip the file and upload the folder to wp-content/themes with your host's file manager or SFTP.

Demo import stops part-way or times out

Why it happens: The server hits its execution-time or memory limit during the import.
How to fix it: Raise max_execution_time and memory_limit with your host, then re-run the importer; importing content, widgets and settings separately also helps.

Pages look broken right after activating

Why it happens: The theme's required plugins (page builder, theme core plugin) aren't installed yet.
How to fix it: Install and activate everything in the theme's required-plugins notice, then reload.
