About Neder WordPress News Magazine and Blog Theme

Neder is a WordPress theme for news, magazine and blog sites, originally sold on ThemeForest. The listing describes 20 demos that import in one click, with topics such as news, sport, food, travel, cars, fashion, wedding, fitness, music, health and technology, and variants like Breaking News and Sport 2.

It is described as including five premium plugins, mostly built around Visual Composer: the page builder itself, Fast Gallery, Fast Media Gallery, Fast Carousel and a gallery plugin. The file on record dates from April 2018, so test it with your current WordPress and PHP versions on a staging site before launch.

Requirements

Visual Composer (listed as bundled with the theme)

Sites that don't want to depend on Visual Composer for their pages
Stores that need a WooCommerce-focused theme, since the listing doesn't mention one

How to install Neder WordPress News Magazine and Blog Theme

1
Download the file
Open My Account → Downloads and download the product. If the archive contains several zips (documentation, child theme, licensing files), you need the one named after the product.
2
Find the installable theme zip
Theme packages often bundle the theme, a child theme, plugins and docs. The installable theme is the zip that has style.css at its top level.
3
Upload it to WordPress
Go to Appearance → Themes → Add New Theme → Upload Theme, choose the theme zip, then Install Now and Activate.
4
Install the recommended plugins
Most premium themes show a notice listing their required plugins. Install those before importing any demo content.

Notes for this product

Install and activate the bundled plugins the theme asks for before importing a demo, because the demo layouts rely on Visual Composer.

Getting started: using Neder WordPress News Magazine and Blog Theme

Install the theme and its plugins. Activate Neder and install the plugins it prompts for, including Visual Composer.
Pick a demo. Choose the demo closest to your topic and import it on a staging site.
Replace the sample content. Swap the demo posts, images and menus for your own.
Check the home page and a post. Test layout, sliders and galleries on desktop and phone.

Common problems and fixes

Page content shows as raw shortcodes

Why it happens: Visual Composer is not installed or not active, so its elements can't render.
How to fix it: Install and activate the bundled Visual Composer plugin, then reload the page.

“The package could not be installed. The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet.”

Why it happens: The full download package was uploaded instead of the theme zip inside it.
How to fix it: Unzip the package and upload the zip that contains style.css at its top level.

“The link you followed has expired.” when uploading

Why it happens: The zip is larger than your server's PHP upload limit (upload_max_filesize / post_max_size).
How to fix it: Raise the upload limit in your hosting control panel, or unzip the file and upload the folder to wp-content/themes with your host's file manager or SFTP.

Demo import stops part-way or times out

Why it happens: The server hits its execution-time or memory limit during the import.
How to fix it: Raise max_execution_time and memory_limit with your host, then re-run the importer; importing content, widgets and settings separately also helps.

Pages look broken right after activating

Why it happens: The theme's required plugins (page builder, theme core plugin) aren't installed yet.
How to fix it: Install and activate everything in the theme's required-plugins notice, then reload.
