About CartFlows WooCommerce Cart Abandonment Recovery 1.2.13

CartFlows Cart Abandonment Recovery is a WooCommerce plugin that watches for shoppers who start checkout, enter details and leave. It records the cart and lets you send them automatic emails with a link back, so some sales you would have lost are completed.

It is made by the CartFlows team, who also build a funnel and checkout builder, but this plugin works on its own with the normal WooCommerce checkout. In practice you set up the email sequence, write the messages, optionally add a coupon, and check the abandoned orders in a report inside WordPress.

The file on record is version 1.2.8, from February 2020. Test it with your current WordPress, PHP and WooCommerce on a staging site first, and send test emails before you rely on it.

Requirements

  • WooCommerce
  • Working email delivery from your site, such as an SMTP plugin

Key features

Abandoned cart tracking
Records carts where the shopper entered an email address but did not finish the order.
Automatic recovery emails
Sends follow-up emails with a link that restores the cart.
Email templates
You write and schedule the messages in the plugin's settings.
Coupon option
Recovery emails can carry a discount code to encourage the shopper to return.
Reports
A WordPress screen shows abandoned and recovered carts so you can see what the emails achieve.

Is it right for you?

A good fit for

  • WooCommerce shops that want to chase unfinished checkouts
  • Store owners who prefer a simple recovery tool to a full marketing automation suite

Look elsewhere if

  • Stores that need SMS, push or multi-channel campaigns
  • Sites without WooCommerce

How to install CartFlows WooCommerce Cart Abandonment Recovery 1.2.13

  1. 1

    Download the file

Open My Account → Downloads and download the product. If the archive contains several zips (documentation, child theme, licensing files), you need the one named after the product.

  2. 2

    Upload it to WordPress

In your dashboard go to Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin and choose the zip.

  3. 3

    Install and activate

Click Install Now, then Activate. If an older or free copy is already installed, WordPress offers to replace it with the uploaded version.

Notes for this product

  • Despite the CartFlows name, this plugin does not need the CartFlows funnel builder to work.

Setup: using CartFlows WooCommerce Cart Abandonment Recovery 1.2.13

  1. Activate and open the settings. Find the cart abandonment settings under WooCommerce in the WordPress menu.
  2. Enable tracking. Turn the tracking on and choose how long a cart sits idle before it counts as abandoned.
  3. Write your emails. Create the email templates and their timing, and add a coupon if you want one.
  4. Run a test checkout. Start a checkout with a test email address, leave it, and confirm the cart is recorded.
  5. Check the report. Come back later to see which carts were abandoned and which were recovered.

Common problems and fixes

Recovery emails are not sent
Why it happens
The plugin relies on WordPress scheduled tasks, which run only when the site gets visits, and on working email delivery.
How to fix it
Set up a real server cron for WP-Cron and an SMTP plugin, then send a test email.
Some abandoned carts do not appear
Why it happens
A cart is only recorded once the shopper has entered an email at checkout, and caching can block the tracking script.
How to fix it
Exclude the checkout page from caching and test with a fresh email address.
“The link you followed has expired.” when uploading
Why it happens
The zip is larger than your server's PHP upload limit (upload_max_filesize / post_max_size).
How to fix it
Raise the upload limit in your hosting control panel, or unzip the file and upload the folder to wp-content/plugins with your host's file manager or SFTP.
“The package could not be installed. No valid plugins were found.”
Why it happens
The uploaded zip is a bundle (or a theme), not the plugin itself.
How to fix it
Unzip the download once and upload the inner zip named after the plugin.
“Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.”
Why it happens
Usually a PHP version older than the plugin needs, or a second copy of the same plugin (for example the free version) still active.
How to fix it
Check your PHP version under Tools → Site Health → Info, deactivate any other copy of the plugin, and enable WP_DEBUG_LOG to see the exact error.
Licence or “updates unavailable” notices
Why it happens
The developer's licence key isn't included. Features that call the developer's servers (template libraries, cloud APIs, automatic updates) need it.
How to fix it
Everything that runs locally works without it. For a newer file, use Request an update from your account.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need the CartFlows funnel plugin?

No. This is a separate plugin that works with the standard WooCommerce checkout.

Can it send emails with a coupon?

Yes, the recovery emails can include a discount code that you set up in the plugin.

Will it track guests?

Only if they enter an email address at checkout, because that is how the cart is linked to someone you can contact.

Will it work with current WooCommerce?

The file dates from February 2020. Test it on a staging site and send test emails before going live.
