About AffiliateWP Lifetime Commissions Addon 1.6.1
Lifetime Commissions is an add-on for AffiliateWP. Normally an affiliate earns only when a customer buys through their referral link. With this add-on, the first referred purchase links the customer to that affiliate, and later purchases by the same customer earn the affiliate a commission even without a new referral visit.
You can turn lifetime commissions on for all affiliates or only for chosen ones, which lets you offer it as a reward to top partners. The file on record is version 1.6.1, dated April 2022. AffiliateWP must be installed and active.

- AffiliateWP

Setup: using AffiliateWP Lifetime Commissions Addon 1.6.1
- Activate the add-on. With AffiliateWP active, install and activate Lifetime Commissions.
- Choose who gets it. In AffiliateWP's settings, enable lifetime commissions for all affiliates or leave it per affiliate.
- Set a lifetime rate if needed. Enter a separate rate for lifetime referrals, or leave the normal rate.
- Enable chosen affiliates. Edit an affiliate in AffiliateWP and turn on lifetime commissions for them.
- Test with two orders. Make a referred purchase, then a second direct purchase with the same customer, and check both referrals.
Common problems and fixes
A repeat purchase doesn't create a referral
- Why it happens
- The customer used a different email or account than on the first referred order, so they weren't matched.
- How to fix it
- Check the customer's email on both orders; link them in AffiliateWP if the add-on lets you edit the linked customer.
“The link you followed has expired.” when uploading
- Why it happens
- The zip is larger than your server's PHP upload limit (upload_max_filesize / post_max_size).
- How to fix it
- Raise the upload limit in your hosting control panel, or unzip the file and upload the folder to wp-content/plugins with your host's file manager or SFTP.
“The package could not be installed. No valid plugins were found.”
- Why it happens
- The uploaded zip is a bundle (or a theme), not the plugin itself.
- How to fix it
- Unzip the download once and upload the inner zip named after the plugin.
“Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.”
- Why it happens
- Usually a PHP version older than the plugin needs, or a second copy of the same plugin (for example the free version) still active.
- How to fix it
- Check your PHP version under Tools → Site Health → Info, deactivate any other copy of the plugin, and enable WP_DEBUG_LOG to see the exact error.
Licence or “updates unavailable” notices
- Why it happens
- The developer's licence key isn't included. Features that call the developer's servers (template libraries, cloud APIs, automatic updates) need it.
- How to fix it
- Everything that runs locally works without it. For a newer file, use Request an update from your account.
